Welcome to LSHO

Join LSHO

All ages, body shapes, abilities, fitness levels, genders, and backgrounds are welcome. Hula and ‘Ori Tahiti are cultural dances, but that does not mean that you must be from the culture in order to dance with us. Everyone is welcome!

LSHO is more than just a dance school, we are a strong community of people, from London and across the globe. With LSHO, you can get involved with social events, shows, travels, and build meaningful friendships and experiences.

What to expect…

…from LSHO

We at LSHO believe that the strength of the individual reflects the strength of the community, and the strength of the community reflects the strength of the individual, making self-worth more tangible.

By engaging in the cultural arts and participating in a creative community, we aim to improve harmony with the self, each other, and the world around us.

It is our goal to empower through art and by connecting to the past, being present, and considering the future.

…in class

Against a backdrop of fast-paced drums and graceful melodies, these unique classes present a fun cultural experience that improves harmony with your body while developing coordination, endurance, strength and grace.

Classes are designed to build confidence and help you discover and connect with your personal strengths. After just a few, you'll be moving your body in new ways that are raw, powerful, and sensual.

Class is culture-based and aims to bring you knowledge that will translate out of the studio and into everyday life.

…in your dance journey

Polynesian dance is about so much more than moving your body in beautiful ways. It’s about passing on stories, past and present, and developing a lifestyle that promotes balance and harmony with the world around us and within us.

We encourage you to think about what your goals are through learning with LSHO, whether that is reconnecting to your body, becoming part of a community, performing on stage, or all of the above, we are here to support you!

The LSHO Journey…

The Foundation Course

Whether you’re brand new at dancing or you want to gain a cultural context to the steps you’ve learned, this is the best place to start. Here you will gain fundamental knowledge about the history, language, music, and storytelling of Hula and 'Ori Tahiti and and will have access to in-depth technical breakdowns of the steps. The BFC will also start you off with a smaller community in which to share, learn, and grow together.

The Foundation course will prepare you to enter our All Levels classes.

Classes

Our All Levels classes are held weekly on Mondays and are designed to teach, challenge, and support dancers of all experience levels, even complete beginners.

Within these classes you build on your knowledge as well as immerse yourself into the community of LSHO.

Once you have developed a proficiency of your basic steps and gestures, as well as cultural context and understanding, you may enter our Intermediate+ classes as well as deeper studies.

Deeper Studies

Our Intermediate+ classes are designed for those who have developed knowledge of the technique, language, music, and culture, surrounding the fundamental steps or Hula and 'Ori. Many Intermediate+ dancers still attend our All levels classes (Mondays) as well as the Intermediate+ classes. Some choose to focus on Hula, while others focus on 'Ori Tahiti, but most prefer to remain proficient in both styles.

Performances

Complete dances are taught in our Intermeidate+ classes and sometimes in our Monday classes. We have several performances throughout the year. If you would like to perform with us, join the Foundation Course or attend classes regularly. As with anything, you’ll get out what what you put in and our instructors are always here to help you achieve your goals!
